Come join us for an evening where we will look into the position of female farmers around the globe! Together with ActionAid we will talk about the obstacles female farmers face regarding land rights in Southern countries. In most African countries women are responsible for more than 80% of the small scale farming, but land is almost always owned by men. ActionAid is an international NGO that works with female farmers in many different countries. On this evening they will share case studies on how, amongst others, Kenyan and Ugandan women fought (and succeeded!) for getting their land rights. We will end the evening by taking a local turn and look at the gender balance and related problems and prejudice in the Dutch farming context, and open up a discussion here.
